Our goal is to build well-rounded athletes. Studies have shown that athletes with physical imbalances tend to get injured at higher rates. Our programs will address the areas of strength and fitness that include: Core, Single Leg Strength, Dual Leg Strength, Upper Body Pushing and Pulling Strength, Hinge Strength, Speed, Agility, and Power. We will also focus on conditioning. Our JV and Varsity program is NOT an exercise program. It is a training program progressively designed to improve overall strength and conditioning.
We strive for physical literacy in our teens to be physically competent good movers, confident in themselves, and motivated to move. Strength impacts physical literacy to a large degree and gives kids the knowledge to pursue the broadest range of physical activities throughout their lifetime. Gaining strength accomplishes this very quickly as it provides a massive gain in self-confidence and impacts every other physical endeavor positively.
Here is what the American Academy of Pediatrics say about strength training for youth in 2020:
”For years, resistance training in children was feared or frowned upon due to a lack of information regarding its effectiveness and safety. Research has shown prepubertal youths can gain strength without significant risk of injury, as long as supervision and technique are emphasized. Neurologic mechanisms of muscle fiber recruitment were found responsible for gains in strength without gains in muscle size prior to puberty. The focus has changed from what would happen if a child engaged in resistance training to what would happen if a child did not. As inactivity and overweight have risen among U.S. children and measures of strength have declined, research shows it is valuable to involve youths in resistance training activities and to use the training for sports performance and injury prevention.”
Our Elementary strength and conditioning class is a hour of age appropriate fitness and conditioning training for kids. The class incorporates proper movement mechanics, strength training, core stability, and fitness games. This class is a great foundation of general strength and conditioning that will translate into any sport. All of this while having fun!
This 60-minute workout consists of age appropriate strength training, movement training, and conditioning. Once basic technique and lifting form are mastered the training becomes progressively harder. At this age it is pivotal for kids to develop and prepare for the demands of high school athletics. This class will give them a head start to be successful in their sport.
This program is designed to meet the demands of high-level athletics. The 60 minutes consists of sport specific strength, speed, agility, quickness, and power movements designed to complement and improve the athlete’s potential in their sport. The athlete’s program will be designed based on their needs, ability, and time in the season.
